Led by our Faculty of Business and Law, we're supporting our business partners and local enterprises during the coronavirus pandemic as a member of the Solent business community.

By working together, we believe we can help our business community survive this period of uncertainty.

COVID-19 business support initiatives

We're running 4 initiatives to give businesses in the Solent region access to our expertise, resources and networks.

1. Weekly #BusinessTalk webinars

We're delivering weekly webinars to discuss COVID-19 business-related issues. We're bringing together academics and industry specialists to answer your questions on topics such as how to manage teams remotely, and how to reassure customers you can operate efficiently during this period of upheaval.

2. Volunteer business support

As part of our ongoing support of the local business community we are creating a new service that will match people in our large business network to a business that can benefit from their expertise. Business professionals who find they have more time on their hands in this unique situation are encouraged to volunteer their time and expertise to help local businesses. We are also encouraging our alumni, academics, professional services, collaborative partners, business specialists and students to volunteer and provide 1-1 support to businesses.

Stage one is now complete and you can register to be a #BusinessTalk Friend.

On Monday 1 June we will launch stage 2 allowing you to request a #BusinessTalk friend.

Details will be posted here as well as on our Business LinkedIn and Twitter pages.

3. Business needs analysis

We're designing a tool to aggregate data on the evolving and emerging business needs of the Solent Region in relation to the coronavirus outbreak.

We will publish our analysis of this data. We hope that our analysis will be used by business, support organisations and local authorities across the region to focus attention where it is most needed.

4. Programmes to support business resilience and growth

When the lockdown ends, we will create programmes to get organisations back on their feet, to become more resilient and to grow.

This could mean getting back to business as usual or helping explore new business ventures. We will adapt our programmes based on business needs.
