The University of Portsmouth has been rated among the top 20 universities and the best in the South East for graduate prospects in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020

The nationally recognised university league table reflects our continuing success in preparing students for their future careers.

The Economist also rated us as number one in the UK for boosting graduate salaries, with 97.5 per cent of graduates working or in further study six months after they graduated.

University of Portsmouth Vice-Chancellor, Professor Graham Galbraith, said: "I am proud to see the University as the best in the South East for graduate prospects and among the top 20 universities nationally. This highlights how our students benefit from the investment we’ve made to build real-life learning into our courses, work placements in industry, and volunteering opportunities in the city to propel them into successful careers."

Earlier this year, Portsmouth was ranked 21st in 2020 Guardian University Guide on a range of factors that students care about: how much they will benefit from the teaching, whether current students like the university and the subject, and what their chances are of getting a good job.

Other aspects that contribute to The Guardian’s University Guide rankings include: spending per student, student/staff ratio, graduate career prospects and a value-added score that compares students’ entry qualifications with their final degree results.

Our approach to learning has been recognised as Gold-rated in the UK Government’s Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). Our students rate us too. In the 2019 National Student Survey, 86 per cent of our final year undergraduates said they were satisfied with their course compared to a national average of 84 per cent.
