Despite better awareness of energy conservation needs – and changes to building regulations that have influenced design and occupier behaviour – moisture in buildings is still a pressing issue.
Property professionals and owners need to be able to distinguish between condensation and dampness and recognise their causes. On this short course, you'll focus on diagnosing causes of moisture and dampness, and explore treatment, removal of the moisture source, and drying down the environment.

What you'll experience
On this short course you'll cover:
- moisture in buildings and materials
- surface and interstitial condensation
- rising and penetrating damp
- contaminant salts
- dry rot and wet rot
- fungal attacks
- identification and investigation of problems
- examples and case studies control measure available and the reduction of residual moisture
You'll be taught by Mike Bromley, a Building Surveyor with over 40 years’ experience. Mike recently retired from the Property Care Association (PCA), where he was Technical Manager from May 2013. This followed a four year period of senior management for a National Property Care Company and two years working as a specialist surveyor in the property-care industry. He previously worked for BWPDA (predecessor of PCA) between 1990 and 2007.
