Applications are now CLOSED for the 2020 entry round of PhD bursaries, funded by the ESRC South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership (SCDTP).

The studentships are funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) for social science research in Psychology and Area Studies only.  

Successful candidates become part of the South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership (SCDTP), a collaboration between the universities of Portsmouth, Southampton and Brighton.

This year's studentships were available to UK students only and covered tuition fees and an annual maintenance grant of £15,009 (2019/20 rate).

Eligibility 

All candidates must be a UK resident and hold a good honours degree (2:1 and above) from a recognised UK higher education institution. For full details on what's required to apply, please visit the SCDTP's eligibility pages.
